Food For Thought: Integrity

What does the word Integrity mean to you?

To me it means walking my talk.

I’ve had some uncomfortable opportunities to walk my talk recently, and it has made me even more aware of the value I put on personal integrity. It is not just about the big things that everyone can see. It is about personal responsibility, and following through on vows you have made to yourself.

For example, do you know that I have never used that new emoji on FB? It might sound like a small, insignificant thing, but for me it stands for something much bigger. For me, that emoji represents jumping on the bandwagon of bullshit that has been fed to us all year, and every time I choose not to use it I am reminded of who I am and what I stand for. Naturally, that is a very small example. But I think you get the idea.

This year I have watched so many people I love not walk in integrity. Since the new year began I have been blocked, shunned, made fun of and been wildly misunderstood. And I’m still here. Doing my thing. Walking my talk.

People make assumptions all day long without actually asking specific questions and getting specific answers. That’s ok. I’m cool. 👍

The farther I go on my path, the more I value the people I am close to; the people that do walk their talk and know what it means to follow through... even when it hurts.

Food for thought... 🤔
